Crystal Highlands 2026 Spring Scramble

Spring Scramble to benefit Crystal Highlands’ Employee, Dale Werner

Come join us for our annual Spring Scramble on Saturday, April 11th 2026.  Proceeds from this tournament will benefit long time Crystal Highlands Employee, Dale Werner.

Dale worked at Crystal Highlands from 1988-1991 where he supervised the “grow-in” of Crystal Highlands.  After ’91 Dale took on more challenges at other regional courses before returning to Crystal Highlands in 2005.  In 2005, Dale oversaw the renovation of Crystal Highlands which included the current irrigation system, and course redesign.  Dale remained at Crystal Highlands until his retirement in October of 2016.  Dale continued to work part time at Crystal Highlands until the end of 2024.

In January of 2025, while visiting his daughter in New York, Dale woke one morning with intense neck pain.  Due to the intense pain, Dale and his wife Karen, cut their visit short and traveled back to Festus.  By the time they made it home, Dale was unable to walk.

The doctors discovered that Dale had two herniated discs and a mass in those discs.  Dale underwent surgery to clean out the mass, which turned out to be a staph abscess.  The staph infection was also discovered in his spine and blood stream.  The damage to his nerves caused paralysis.  Dale’s diagnosis was an incomplete spinal cord injury.  After intense therapy in St. Louis and Iowa for specialized care, Dale come home but in a wheel chair.  Dale and Karen have endured numerous challenges in adapting their home to accommodate the necessary equipment for Dale’s recovery.

Through his hard work during therapy, Karen’s love and tireless support, as well as the encouragement from friends and family, Dale can stand now with assistance.  Dale will continue his hard work with the ultimate goal to be able to walk again.

Please join us April 11th, 2026 to help our friend, Dale Werner with his road to recovery.  Register your 4-person team today by calling the Crystal Highlands Pro Shop at (636)543-7616.  Crystal Highlands will provide lunch before golf, and dinner after the tournament as well as beer and soft drinks, $500 per team.  We will have donated prizes for flight winners, as well as 50/50 tickets, and raffle items.

Please help Dale’s recovery by entering a team, sponsoring a hole, or donating raffle items.  Thank you!

Rules at CHGC

Cart path only:  Golf carts must be kept off the grass at all times.

90 degrees:  How to Drive the Cart When 90-Degree Rule Is in Effect
It’s simple, really: Keep the golf cart on the designated cart path (off the turfgrass, in other words) as much as you possibly can. For example, after hitting your drive, do not jump in the cart and drive it up the middle of the fairway directly to your golf ball.

Instead, jump in the cart and drive it on the cart path only until you are even with the position of your golf ball. Then, turn the cart at a right angle (hence, “90-degree” rule) and drive straight over to your golf ball. Play the shot.

Then jump back into the cart, drive it straight back to the cart path, and continue moving up the hole on the designated cart path.
